Colour is a pest. It shines out of empty spaces without making them negative. It tints shapes with emotion thus masking lines and complicating gradations. Sometimes it carries a meaning, but most of the time it is a distraction, which has to be fought tooth and nail to reveal the subject. If there is a subject.
